2.2 million candidates start 2026 UTME nationwide today
2.2 million candidates began the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across accredited centers nationwide today, April 16. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam runs through April 22 with daily sessions starting at 8:30am.
JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede emphasized zero-tolerance for examination malpractice and deployment of advanced technology including biometric verification and real-time monitoring systems. Candidates with unverifiable biometric details will be rescheduled to approved centers.
The exam follows mock exercises where challenges included inadequate center assessments. JAMB offers incentive packages for teams demonstrating exceptional performance, including timely handling of materials and report submission.
As Nigeria's largest annual examination, this UTME determines university admission eligibility for over 2 million hopefuls. Are you writing this year, or supporting someone who is?
