23 Nigerian states will allocate ₦132.45 billion ($97.15 million) to technology ministries in 2026, nearly quadrupling 2025's ₦33.59 billion. This represents just 0.25% of total state expenditure in 2025, rising to 0.53% in 2026. Despite the increase, execution rates remain low, with only 41.88% of 2025's ₦80.21 billion tech budget achieved. States including Lagos, Ogun, and Ekiti have specific tech ministries, while others like Nasarawa lack dedicated funding. Revenue constraints and political priorities for roads/infrastructure limit digital transformation, despite ambitious targets for broadband expansion and startup growth.
