Activist Idam criticizes Omokri, Fani-Kayode ambassadorial appointments
Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has criticized the diplomatic appointments of Reno Omokri and Femi Fani-Kayode as Nigeria's ambassadors to Mexico and Germany, respectively. Idam likened the appointments to sending presidential aide Daniel Bwala to mock President Bola Tinubu internationally. He argued that appointing individuals who previously criticized Tinubu could create contradictions for the administration on the international stage. Idam stated that Omokri and Fani-Kayode may become 'the nemesis of President Tinubu' before the international community, as representing a government led by someone they once deemed 'morally unfit' presents an irredeemable contradiction. He warned that while the appointments could either strengthen Tinubu politically if successful or damage the appointees' reputations, they risk undermining Nigeria's international image. Idam questioned how serious nations would perceive ambassadors who resent their own president.
