The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Federal Government to immediately introduce a temporary and time-bound cap on petrol prices to prevent further increases that are worsening the cost-of-living crisis for millions of Nigerians. The opposition party argues that external shocks like the Middle East crisis should not justify unchecked fuel price hikes in an already fragile economy. According to the ADC, many Nigerians are still grappling with the economic impact of the fuel subsidy removal by the Tinubu administration. The party stressed that a temporary price cap would serve as a protective measure to stabilize fuel costs while the government explores sustainable long-term solutions for the energy sector. Without immediate intervention, continued petrol price increases could further strain household incomes, worsen inflation, and deepen economic hardship across the country.
