The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has published the names of its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 elections in 28 states. The list, signed by National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, features prominent politicians and former public officials such as Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere for Lagos, Ibrahim Ali Amin and Shehu Abdulkadir Bari for Kano, and Abubakar Malami and Zagi Musa Mohammed for Kebbi.

These candidates will contest the February 6, 2027 governorship elections, which will run alongside state House of Assembly polls. The presidential and National Assembly elections are set for January 16, 2027. Eight states—Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Ondo, and Osun—hold their governorship elections outside this regular cycle due to prior court rulings.

ADC’s performance in recent off-cycle elections has been modest: its candidate in Anambra 2025 garnered 1.4% of votes, in Ekiti 2026 3.4%, and in Osun last month 1.7%. The party positions itself as a credible alternative to the dominant parties.

Voters in the 28 states can review the full list to assess ADC’s offerings. Will you consider ADC candidates as a viable option in your state’s upcoming election?
