ADC official criticizes Peter Obi's exit after Atiku primary win
Former governorship aspirant and ADC Electoral Panel Adviser Chille Igbawua criticized Peter Obi's decision to leave the African Democratic Congress after losing the presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar. Speaking on Channels Television Tuesday evening, Igbawua insisted Obi should have stayed to learn lessons from defeat, noting 'I don't think he made the right choice.'
He provided evidence of level playing field in Benue State where Atiku polled 55,000 votes, Amaechi 30,000, and Hayatu-deen 22,000. 'When this process started, it was all about saving Nigeria,' Igbawua stated, contrasting ADC's coalition approach with what he viewed as Obi's abandonment due to personal ambition.
ADC formed as a potential third force alternative in 2027 elections, positioning itself beyond the APC/PDP dominance. With Obi now potentially running separately, the coalition's viability as a unified opposition may be compromised. For Nigerian voters, this raises questions about whether party loyalty or individual political movements better serve democratic interests in the upcoming election.
