The African Democratic Congress claims the Nigerian Bar Association supports its position that courts have no jurisdiction over internal party leadership matters. ADC argues attempts to obtain court orders in their leadership dispute violate the Electoral Act and represent 'coordinated efforts to weaponize the judicial process for political ends.' The party accuses individuals of 'forum shopping and malafide litigation' and alleges the ruling party is trying to weaken opposition groups ahead of the 2027 elections. ADC warns that court orders obtained illegally 'are fundamentally defective and cannot stand' while urging INEC to remain neutral. The party claims Nigeria's democracy could be at risk if institutions are influenced, stating the case is 'bigger than the ADC—it is about the integrity of the democratic process itself.' The legal dispute is scheduled for judgment on April 13.
