ADC urged to field Amaechi, Obi against Tinubu
Former media aide to ex-Vice President Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to field experienced Southern politicians like Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi as presidential candidates to challenge President Tinubu in 2027. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, Akande emphasized the need for credible Southern leaders with strong governance credentials to mount a serious opposition. He highlighted Amaechi's extensive political career including roles as Speaker, Governor, and Minister, noting his infrastructure development experience. Akande warned that without such a candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could dominate opposition politics. The ADC is reportedly considering these candidates amid growing calls for a unified Southern challenge to Tinubu's presidency.
