On International Women's Day 2026, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) called on Nigerian women to take active roles in politics and leadership. Party National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi stated women carry disproportionate social and economic responsibilities yet remain underrepresented in decision-making. The ADC highlighted its National Working Committee's deliberate inclusion of women and noted its constitution reserves 40% of all positions at every level for women. "Women sustain our nation daily yet their voices are absent when decisions about our future are made," Abdullahi said. "Empowering women strengthens Nigeria's democracy. When Nigerian women rise, the nation rises with them." The party urged more women to join its platform to shape Nigeria's political and democratic future, emphasizing that "a nation of over two hundred million people cannot reach its full potential when half its population remains underrepresented in political leadership."
