Public affairs analyst and investor Uzochukwu Akunedozi has urged Nigerians to focus on adding value rather than criticizing the government, saying this collective mindset shift will ease the country's economic difficulties. Speaking during the Easter period, Akunedozi noted that Nigeria's situation "has always been like this" and is not uniquely worse now, but expressed optimism that problems will be addressed.

He acknowledged the current economic hardship, citing the 15.06% inflation rate recorded in February 2026 and the rising cost of living affecting most citizens. However, he argued that while holding government accountable is necessary, individuals and business owners must also "look inward" and contribute positively. "If each and every one of us… decides to add value one way or the other—we are over 250 million people—if 50 million people, or even less, even 10 million people, can decide to add value… I think the pressure, the burden, will reduce a great deal on the government," he stated.

Akunedozi called for a balance between demanding accountability and actively supporting national improvement, urging Nigerians to prioritize creating value within their spheres instead of focusing solely on criticism. He believes this approach is essential for reducing the economic burden on both citizens and the government.

Will focusing on value creation in your own work or business—rather than constant criticism—make a tangible difference in Nigeria's economic recovery?
