Africa's Aviation Safety Crisis: Highest Global Accident Rate in 2025
Africa recorded seven aviation accidents in 2025 with an all-accident rate of 7.86 per million sectors, down from 12.13 in 2024 but still the highest globally. Turboprop aircraft were involved in 71% of accidents, highlighting operational and infrastructure challenges. Fatality risk increased from zero in 2024 to 2.19 in 2025.
