Hull City bounced back from their Fulham defeat with a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the MKM Stadium yesterday. Oli McBurnie put the Tigers ahead in the 24th minute before Dango Ouattara levelled for the visitors in the second half.

Nigeria international Semi Ajayi was the standout performer, collecting both the Premier League and Hull City Player of the Match awards. The centre-back's commanding display anchored a defence that limited Brentford's chances after the equaliser.

"It's important that we had a good bounce back from last week, we did that," Ajayi told Sky Sports. "We are definitely disappointed not to come away with the three points, but a point at home is always positive."

The result leaves Hull with a platform to build on ahead of their next fixture. For Nigerian football fans, Ajayi's form is encouraging with World Cup qualifiers on the horizon — his partnership with Calvin Bassey at the back could be crucial for the Super Eagles.

Will Ajayi's Premier League consistency translate into a starting role for Nigeria's next qualifiers, or does the national team setup still favour other defensive options?
