Akpabio assures Nigerians on terrorism fight in Easter message
Senate President Godswill Akpabio issued an Easter statement assuring Nigerians of the Federal Government's commitment to ending terrorism and banditry across the country. His Special Adviser on Media, Eseme Eyiboh, released the message as Christians globally celebrated Easter. Akpabio urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect regardless of faith or ethnicity, and asked Christians to reflect on values of love and unity during the sacred feast. The Senate President acknowledged Nigeria's current challenges with insecurity, particularly referencing recent killings in Jos, Plateau State, and expressed sympathy for affected families. He stated President Bola Tinubu 'is not resting on his oars' and that security agencies are 'working relentlessly to tame the tide,' calling for national security consciousness and collective effort through understanding and prayers. His prayer included divine guidance 'to defeat the enemies that have declared war on our people.' This follows similar calls by Archbishop Adewale Martins of the Lagos Archdiocese, who demanded political leaders end the spates of killings recently reported in Kwara, Nasarawa, and Plateau states.
