Senate President Godswill Akpabio declared Nigeria's banking sector stronger and more resilient, crediting the transition from survival to absolute dominance to President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He said the sector is now one of the safest, most resilient and technologically advanced banking systems in Africa, pointing to ongoing bank consolidation and recapitalisation as evidence that economic policies are yielding results. Akpabio added that reforms have restored investor confidence and protected depositors' funds.

He also addressed insecurity, acknowledging it remains a major obstacle to development but asserting that security forces have shifted from a reactive to a proactive approach, taking the fight directly to criminal enclaves. Akpabio assured Nigerians that insecurity will soon be defeated and urged citizens to provide credible, timely information to security agencies, describing public cooperation as essential to ending criminality.

He acknowledged temporary economic challenges faced by Nigerians, framing current sacrifices as necessary to address structural problems and build a stronger economy. Akpabio called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to support national development and work with government institutions. With the banking sector touted as secure and security forces adopting a new strategy, will you feel more confident keeping your savings in banks and reporting suspicious activities to authorities, or will you remain cautious until you see tangible improvements in daily safety and financial stability?
