Aliko Dangote, founder of the Dangote Group, has been named in the 2026 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people, released by TIME Magazine on 15 April 2026. He is the only Nigerian on the list and appears in the “Titans” category, marking his second TIME100 inclusion after 2014.

TIME highlighted his role in advancing African industrialisation through investments in cement, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure and energy, and his focus on building globally competitive industries using local resources. The publication also noted his recent large‑scale investments in manufacturing and energy, and his philanthropic work via the Aliko Dangote Foundation supporting healthcare, education and economic empowerment.

The article adds that Dangote Industries Ltd has unveiled a “Vision 2030” plan to expand its global footprint, strengthening cement, fertiliser and energy while exploring new investments in steel, power and port infrastructure. This recognition underscores the potential of Nigerian‑led industry to compete globally—what sectors do you think hold the most promise for local value creation and international competitiveness?
