Former Kano lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin revealed on Channels Television's Politics Today that a united opposition would've given APC and President Tinubu "sleepless night" in 2027 elections. Jibrin explained that if opposition parties had replicated Tinubu's 2015 strategy of bringing together all factions—including Buhari, National Assembly members, and Southwest governors—they would have created a competitive challenge.

The former House member stated that divided opposition actually helps APC by splitting votes, while President Tinubu's voter base remains intact. "The more they divide themselves the more they split their votes but the vote of the president continues to remain intact," Jibrin emphasized, adding that even if opposition united, Tinubu would still defeat them.

This analysis comes as political parties begin positioning for the 2027 elections, with Jibrin suggesting APC views the fragmented opposition as advantageous to their electoral prospects. The comments reflect growing confidence within APC about maintaining power despite potential challenges from various opposition factions.

With opposition parties reportedly divided, should Nigerian voters be concerned about having competitive alternatives in 2027?
