APC disowns circulating primary candidates list as fake, says official release pending
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a list of successful candidates from its recent primaries that is circulating online, calling it fake and unauthorised. Felix Morka, the party's National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement on Sunday (June 28, 2026) urging members, stakeholders and the public to disregard the publication, stating APC has not released any official list of successful candidates from its recently-conducted primaries.
According to the party, genuine successful candidates will be notified exclusively through official channels and issued certificates of return following established procedures. Party sources confirmed that internal collation and verification of primary results are still ongoing, in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) window for political parties to upload candidate names ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This clarification matters for aspirants awaiting confirmation and voters tracking party preparations for 2027, as unverified lists could cause confusion or false hopes. The APC emphasizes that only names released via its verified platforms—state chapters, national secretariat or authenticated press releases—should be considered legitimate.
Will you wait for APC's official announcements through verified channels before acting on any primary candidate information, or risk relying on potentially unauthorised lists circulating online?
