APC disowns fake senatorial candidates list circulating online
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a purported list of senatorial candidates currently circulating on social media and online platforms, calling the document fake and unauthorized. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the APC said the list titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” did not originate from the party and should be disregarded. Morka stated that the party had not released any such list and warned against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading party faithful and the public. “The list is fake and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement said. The APC advised members, stakeholders, media organisations and the public to ignore the publication in its entirety, stressing that only the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to announce candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes. The NWC can only make such announcements through officially authorized communication channels. The ruling party also expressed concern over the circulation of false information, noting that such actions could create confusion and undermine confidence in its internal democratic processes. “We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement added.
