APC NWC dropped six senatorial hopefuls including ex-Benue Gov Gabriel Suswam and former Rep Gbenga Elegbeleye, plus 19 House candidates from primaries across nine states (Abia, Kogi, Taraba, Benue, Ebonyi, Ondo, Kaduna, Niger, Kwara). The decision followed recommendations of the Party's Primary Election Appeal Committee and was communicated to INEC via a signed letter from APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Secretary Ajibola Basiru.

These removals affect the party's lineup for the 2027 general elections, influencing voter choices in the affected states and potentially shifting power balances. Notable figures still cleared include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy President Jibrin Barau, and four state governors (Kwara, Imo, Adamawa, Gombe) who cleared Senate bids, along with figures like Yahaya Bello for Kogi Central. The process is part of the ongoing candidate upload to INEC's portal, which runs from June 27 to July 10, 2026.

Voters in the affected states should verify the updated candidate lists on INEC's portal (portal.inec.gov.ng) before the July 10 deadline to ensure they know who is on the ballot. Aspirants who were dropped can still pursue legal redress through the party's appeal process or consider alternative parties. Stay updated via trusted sources like NAN or party announcements for any further changes.
