APC Grassroots Rejects Wike's Coalition, Warns It Threatens Tinubu's 2027 Bid
APC Grassroots Organisation rejected FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, alleging it undermines the ruling party and mirrors his past actions that weakened the PDP via the G-5 alliance before the 2023 polls. Chairman Mukhtar Rabiu stated in a Sunday release that Wike's intention was to sabotage President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid, just as he allegedly did to the opposition PDP through lackeys from Kano and Edo states.
Rabiu accused Wike of polarising PDP governors, buying over party leadership, and attacking major PDP organs, claiming the same script is being replayed in the APC. He warned the coalition could cause disunity, noting APC governors under the Progressives Governors Forum (chaired by Imo State's Hope Uzodimma) have also opposed the arrangement, saying it undermines party candidates. Wike, meanwhile, accused the governors of opposing the coalition due to election fears and criticised their state performances, while the PDP affirmed its support for his Tinubu mobilisation despite fielding Sandy Onor as its January 2027 presidential candidate.
With APC national leadership yet to take a public stance on the dispute, this internal conflict raises questions about party unity as the 2027 elections approach.
