APC Launches Massive Digital Membership Drive for Youths
While the opposition battles in court, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has launched a sophisticated "Digital Membership Drive" aimed squarely at capturing the youth vote. This initiative, unveiled on January 8, 2026, is a strategic move to modernize the party's database and ensure that their membership records are transparent and accessible. The party leadership stated that the analogue way of playing politics is over and they are moving with the global trend to ensure valid data for the 2026 election.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adesola Adedayo, who is spearheading this project, explained that the drive is not just about numbers but about engagement. By digitizing membership, the party plans to have a direct line of communication with its young members, keeping them updated on government policies and campaign activities. He noted that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s performance has already attracted thousands of new members, and this digital platform will ensure they are properly captured and integrated into the party structure.
This move is also seen as a check against "infiltration" and anti-party activities. With a digital registry linked to NIN (National Identification Number) and PVCs, the APC claims it can now weed out fake members who might be working as moles for other parties. They are urging all eligible Ekiti youths who have turned 18 to not only register for their PVCs with INEC but to also log on to the APC portal to become card-carrying members of the ruling party.
The digital drive has sparked a lot of conversation on social media, with many young people in Ekiti debating the merits of joining a political party online. For the APC, this is a show of strength and organization. They are signaling to the opposition that they are organized, tech-savvy, and ready to mobilize the largest demographic in the state—the youths—to secure a second term for Governor Oyebanji.
