Moller Capital’s Africa Infrastructure Fund I and Impala Energy Holdings have agreed to sell Powergas Global Investments Nigeria Limited and Powergas Ebedei Limited to a consortium led by Ardova Plc and including Diadem Energy. Powergas, founded in 2013 by the Clean Energy Group, is one of Africa’s largest producers of compressed natural gas (CNG) and operators of virtual pipeline networks that deliver gas beyond the fixed grid, notably through its Ebedei flare‑gas monetisation plant in Delta State, which converts otherwise flared gas into usable energy for industrial and commercial customers. The plant commenced operations in 2020, with compression commissioned in 2021, and Powergas now serves customers across South‑East, South‑South and South‑West Nigeria, having created 175 direct jobs and many more in its supply chain.

Ardova Plc, a Nigerian integrated energy company with a nationwide footprint in retail fuels, LPG, shipping, aviation fuel, lubricants and logistics, will add a natural gas platform to its existing petroleum and LPG businesses. Following completion—expected around the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals—Ardova plans to deploy CNG infrastructure across its retail network, targeting 100 CNG refuelling sites nationwide within 24 months. This will expand access to gas for commercial fleets and motorists, support Nigeria’s drive to increase domestic gas utilisation, and position Ardova as a leading domestic gas infrastructure and gas‑monetisation partner for upstream producers. Ardova also intends to expand Powergas’ compression capacity along viable gas‑producing corridors, creating firm offtake for associated and non‑associated gas, supporting flare reduction and unlocking further investment across the gas value chain, with a view to extending the platform into the wider West African market over time.

The deal combines Powergas’ gas‑sourcing relationships, compression assets and industrial customer base with Ardova’s national distribution and logistics network. Ardova’s leadership says the transaction aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles (Pi‑CNG & EV) and the federal government’s Decade of Gas programme, aiming to deliver more affordable, lower‑emission energy and lower transportation costs for Nigerians while building a gas platform with relevance beyond Nigeria.
