Arsenal legend Petit urges wingers overhaul before summer transfer
Emmanuel Petit told Andy’s Bet Club that Arsenal must bring in talented wingers if they want to play good football all season and win major prizes. He said Bukayo Saka, who has been injured and endured a tough season, Noni Madueke—decent but not elite—and left‑wing options Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are not among the best in their positions. Petit pointed to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint‑German as examples of teams whose elite wingers help them control matches and win top trophies.
Arsenal have not lifted a major trophy since 2020, have finished runners‑up in the last three Premier League seasons, and lost the EFL Cup final to Manchester City while pursuing a league‑Champions League double. Petit added that interest in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon would be a step toward the controlling football he admires, stressing that the Gunners need to strengthen the flanks this summer.
Should Arsenal spend on new wingers now, or back their current attackers to improve and deliver the trophies they’ve been chasing?
