Arsenal sign Nigerian defender Habeeb Ogunneye from Man United

Arsenal have announced the signing of 20-year-old London-born Nigerian full-back Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United, confirmed on the club's website on August 30, 2026. The Premier League champions did not disclose the length or financial terms of the contract.

Ogunneye spent 15 years in the Man United academy, first training with the senior side during an FA Cup fifth-round match against Nottingham Forest in February 2024. He was called up to first-team matchday squads on ten occasions but never made a senior competitive appearance for the Red Devils. Last season he joined Newport County on loan, playing 15 League Two games, scoring once, and helping the club avoid relegation before being recalled by United.

At Arsenal, Ogunneye is expected to begin with the youth squad while also training with the first team, especially during international breaks when several senior players are away on duty.
