Atiku demands independent probe into alleged fake PFIPC amid ₦1.3bn budget row
Atiku Abubakar, ADC presidential candidate for 2027, called for an independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). He questioned whether Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of forging government appointment letters and posing as the agency’s director-general, acted alone or with government backing. The statement was issued Thursday by his aide Phrank Shaibu.
The presidency claims the agency does not exist, yet ₦1.3 billion was allocated to it in the 2026 Appropriation Act. Adeyemi has been charged with eight counts and faces a Federal High Court hearing on 27 July. Atiku criticized the National Assembly’s budget oversight, the Central Bank’s handling of alleged accounts for a non‑existent agency, and the EFCC for allegedly pursuing opposition figures while ignoring allegations against those in power.
The controversy raises questions about budget padding, oversight failures, and possible misuse of public funds.
