Atiku vows to implement Oronsaye Report, cut govt cost if elected in 2027

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says he will fully implement the Oronsaye Committee Report if elected president in the 2027 general elections. In a statement released Friday by his spokesman Kenneth Okonkwo, Atiku described the report as a clear roadmap to cut waste, duplication and the cost of governance, accusing President Bola Tinubu of failing to act on his own promise and instead creating additional agencies, some of which he called fake.

Atiku pledged to begin implementation immediately after inauguration with a transparent audit of all government agencies, their numbers and purposes. He said he would eliminate unnecessary institutions, merge overlapping ones, cut governance costs, plug leakages and redirect the savings to healthcare, education, infrastructure, jobs and social protection. He emphasized that the reduction would start with the presidency and all government officials, adding that he would lead by example to make government smarter, more efficient and accountable so public money works for Nigerians.

He criticized Tinubu's administration for multiplying agencies rather than reducing them, arguing that Nigerians should not be asked to sacrifice while government continues to waste money. Atiku said Nigeria needs action, not more promises.
