AY Comedian's Cardiff show cancelled over unpaid fees; fans get refund via chargebacks
Nigerian comedian AY Makun's Cardiff concert on Sunday at Valegate Retail Park never happened after organisers failed to pay the balance owed since late September. AY and his team — including comedians Apororo and Monika — arrived in Cardiff before 5pm ready to perform, but payment disputes dragged on until around 10pm when a sponsor, Enoch Adekoya of Koya Group, intervened. By then most ticket-holders had left after waiting hours with no communication.
AY apologised on Instagram Monday, taking responsibility for the poor organisation and communication. He promised full refunds and urged fans to request chargebacks through their banks or card providers for any transaction related to the show. "You shouldn't have to wait for a possible return show or seek resolution," he said.
The comedian insisted this wasn't the artists' fault — similar payment issues occurred at a Leicester show days earlier where they performed but weren't paid. AY said he's reviewing formal steps, including a possible police report, and would only return to Cardiff with a reliable local partner.
The tour continues: Birmingham October 30, London October 31, Manchester November 1. If you bought tickets for Cardiff, initiate a chargeback with your bank immediately — don't wait for organisers to process refunds.
