Former presidential aide Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has condemned the deteriorating relationship between Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, describing it as 'poisonous' and 'troubling' for Nigeria's political culture. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed expressed deep concern about the personal animosity between the two former allies, noting their friendship has 'degenerated to the point that nobody seems to consider the consequences'. He warned that such poisoned relationships among political figures could have serious implications for the nation. 'If you can actually poison a relationship of this nature so deeply, then we are in very serious trouble,' Baba-Ahmed stated. He also offered unsolicited advice to El-Rufai, suggesting he 'limit the damage' and focus on addressing allegations of misappropriating public funds. The comments highlight growing tensions within Nigeria's political elite, with the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Tinubu calling for greater responsibility among leaders.
