Baba Yusuf says US must stop fighting Nigeria's insecurity

Political strategist Baba Yusuf told Arise Television on Wednesday that the United States cannot continue to fight Nigeria's insecurity issues and that Nigeria must stand as a sovereign nation while pursuing collaboration and strategic engagements. He said US President Donald Trump's praise of President Bola Tinubu's leadership against terrorism is good optics for the Nigerian leader and welcomed a congressional resolution on insecurity, noting synergies between Trump and Congress. Yusuf acknowledged that the US has provided equipment and helped remove senior terrorist figures but stressed that sustainability is key. He added that whether Nigeria can sustain the fight against insecurity and manage Muslim-Christian relations, including the situation of free thinkers, remains to be seen. As a Nigerian, he said he is watching what happens to Muslims, Christians and free thinkers in the country moving forward.
