Bankit Microfinance Bank rebrands as WayvePay, launches enhanced digital banking
Bankit Microfinance Bank has rebranded to WayvePay, effective September 18, 2026, marking a shift to a broader digital financial platform branded 'Banking & Beyond'. The change includes a new name, visual identity, and upgraded technology aimed at delivering smarter, faster, more secure and accessible banking for Nigerians. According to Head of Corporate Communications Kingsley Ezenwa, WayvePay builds on Bankit’s foundation while introducing AI‑powered customer support, AI‑enhanced security that monitors transactions for suspicious activity, and a more personalised mobile app with multiple theme options and in‑app banners. The platform also expands access through a USSD banking channel, 347271#, allowing customers without reliable internet or smartphones to perform essential transactions. WayvePay offers attractive savings options designed to help users save more consistently, alongside faster transfers, digital payments, card services and business banking solutions for entrepreneurs and small enterprises. The bank says these upgrades respond to the growing demands of Nigeria’s digital economy, where more individuals and businesses adopt mobile banking and digital payments. While existing customers retain their accounts and commitments, the rebrand signals WayvePay’s ambition to go beyond holding and moving money to helping users save, pay, transfer and manage finances more conveniently. The transition is already live, and users can access the updated platform via the mobile app, web portal or USSD code.
