Berger Paints Nigeria Plc released its H1 2026 results on July 31, 2026, reporting a pre‑tax profit of ₦1.2 billion, up 27% from ₦945.82 million in the same period of 2025. Revenue rose 13% to ₦6.97 billion, gross profit climbed 15% to ₦3.12 billion and operating profit increased 18% to ₦1.10 billion. Earnings per share rose to 272 kobo from 216 kobo, while cash and cash equivalents jumped 76% to ₦628.88 million. The company’s share price closed at ₦147.60 on the NGX, a 207.5% gain from the end‑2025 close of ₦48 and has held steady since May 21, 2026. The profit growth came despite a sharp rise in administrative expenses to ₦1.88 billion, offset by a sharp drop in selling and distribution costs and a boost from net finance income.

Why it matters: The results show Berger’s core paint business remains profitable even as inflation pushes up production costs, signaling resilience that could support continued dividend payments and share price strength. For investors, the rising cash pile and stable share price suggest the company is generating excess cash that could fund further dividends or reinvestment. For consumers, stable or slightly rising paint prices may reflect the company’s ability to pass on costs without hurting demand.

What you should know: Consider whether Berger’s strong cash flow and profit growth justify adding or holding the stock, keeping an eye on whether rising admin costs could erode margins in future quarters. The company paid ₦386.36 million in dividends during the period and continues to repay borrowings. Watch the next quarterly results to see if the margin expansion can be sustained.
