Businessman threatens lawsuit over 'fraudster' label in N22bn contract report
Businessman Nasiru Haladu Danu has threatened legal action against Peoples Gazette after the newspaper described him as a "notorious fraudster" in a report linking him to a N22 billion aviation contract award. In a March 4, 2026 letter, his lawyers demanded immediate retraction of the March 3 report titled "Exclusive: Keyamo awards N22 billion NAMA headquarters project to notorious fraudster Nasiru Danu" and a public apology. The allegations of corruption, money laundering, and passport fraud were denied by Danu, who holds traditional titles in Jigawa and Katsina States. His legal team argued the newspaper misrepresented the role of Minister Festus Keyamo in the contract process and that no court has convicted or declared Danu wanted. They demanded the newspaper pull the report within 24 hours, publish a full apology in two national dailies, and cease further defamatory publications. Peoples Gazette had not responded as of the report's filing.
