The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has temporarily suspended its companies' registration portal from April 17 to April 20, 2026, following a cyberattack on its database compromising millions of data points nationwide. The announcement came via CAC's X account on Wednesday, with DAILY POST reporting the Commission confirmed the breach and is collaborating with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to mitigate the incident.

According to CAC's statement, the suspension includes scheduled maintenance from midnight today (April 17) to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, during which the portal will be temporarily unavailable. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has also commenced an investigation into the data breach, as noted in the Commission's communication.

This disruption affects entrepreneurs, businesses, and legal practitioners seeking to register new companies or access existing records through CAC's online platform across Nigeria. With millions of company records potentially exposed, stakeholders face delays in business formalization, compliance updates, and verification processes until services resume.

Will you postpone your business registration plans until after April 20, seek alternative verification methods through CAC's physical offices, or monitor the Commission's updates for earlier service restoration?
