The Central Bank of Nigeria, acting for the Debt Management Office, has invited banks and investors to bid for N500 billion of Treasury Bills in the final Q3 2026 auction on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Bids must be submitted through the CBN’s S4 Web Interface between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. that day. Successful bidders will receive allotment letters on Thursday, September 24, and must fund their CBN accounts by 11:00 a.m. the same day.

The offer comprises N100 billion for the 91‑day bill, N100 billion for the 182‑day bill, and N300 billion for the 364‑day bill, matching the size of the previous auction and staying below the N700 billion average for the quarter. Each bid must be a multiple of N1,000, with a minimum of N50,001,000, and dealers may submit multiple bids on their own behalf, for other dealers, or for members of the public.

Yields on Nigeria’s Treasury Bills have been falling steadily— the 364‑day rate dropped from 17.59% in August to 16.62% on September 9— even as demand remains strong, suggesting the CBN is choosing to lower short‑term borrowing costs while keeping its Monetary Policy Rate unchanged at 26.5%. Inflation eased to 15.39% in August, giving the CBN room to consider further rate cuts.

Will you consider participating in this auction to lock in current yields, or wait for potential further rate declines before investing?
