CBN: Nigeria's Foreign Reserves Hit $34.8B in 2025
Nigeria's net foreign reserves surged to $34.80 billion by year-end 2025, up 51% from $23.11 billion in 2024, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Governor Olayemi Cardoso attributed the $11.69 billion increase to sustained policy reforms and external sector adjustments. Gross reserves also rose to $45.71 billion from $40.19 billion. The improvement reflects enhanced external buffers and macroeconomic resilience, supporting exchange rate stability and meeting external obligations. Will this strengthen Nigeria's ability to manage future economic shocks?
