CCB launches investigation into seven prominent Nigerians named in the Panama Papers and Pandora Papers over undeclared offshore assets. Those under probe include 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and David Mark, former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, late Bayelsa Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former Delta Governor James Ibori, and retired Delta judicial officer Stella Ogene.

CCB sources confirm case officers assigned and investigations underway. The bureau is examining whether these officials violated asset declaration laws by using offshore companies to hold assets while in public office and maintaining foreign bank accounts—prohibited for public officers. CCB chairman's aide says probe will extend to other Nigerians named in the leaks.

Important: CCB notes "allegations do not automatically establish wrongdoing." These are investigations, not convictions. The Panama Papers (2016) and Pandora Papers (2021) previously exposed offshore holdings of global leaders.

With multiple high-profile figures across party lines under scrutiny, will this probe strengthen asset declaration enforcement or become another political tool? Public officials declaring assets transparently could restore trust—but only if process is fair and thorough.
