Celtic bowed out of the Europa League after losing 4-2 on aggregate to VfB Stuttgart despite a 1-0 away win in the second leg. The Scottish champions made an ideal start with Luke McCowan scoring in the opening minute but couldn't find a second goal. Martin O'Neill's side now face a three-goal deficit from the first leg and exit the competition, ending their quest for a first European knockout victory since 2004. Their domestic dominance is also under threat this season from Hearts. Stuttgart advances to the last 16 and will face Porto or Braga in Friday's draw. Nottingham Forest leads 3-0 against Fenerbahçe at the City Ground.
