China's top refiners have been ordered to suspend diesel and gasoline exports immediately, Bloomberg News reported March 5, 2026. This follows escalating risks to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy chokepoint currently blocked, which supplies 57% of China's seaborne crude imports. The National Development and Reform Commission instructed refiners to stop new contracts and cancel existing shipments. This affects PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Sinochem, and Zhejiang Petrochemical. While Nigeria isn't directly mentioned, the Strait of Hormuz's disruption threatens global energy security, potentially impacting fuel prices and supply chains across Asia, including Nigeria.
