China's Foreign Ministry stated it has no need to join US-led nuclear disarmament negotiations, arguing its nuclear capabilities are not comparable to the US and Russia. Spokesperson Mao Ning criticized Washington for failing to fulfill its primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament despite possessing a large arsenal. The response came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for inclusive talks involving the three nuclear powers. Beijing also condemned Pentagon plans to spend $12 billion on surveillance of Chinese military activities in Asia, calling it a pretext for US military expansion. China is mediating between Afghanistan and Pakistan amid escalating clashes, urging restraint and dialogue to prevent further suffering.
