Claude Fable 5.1 AI model launches in Nigeria with cheaper cache
Anthropic released Claude Fable 5.1 on September 1, 2026, as its top AI model for long, complex tasks such as coding, research, and office work. The model keeps the same input price of $10 per million tokens and output price of $50 per million tokens, but slashes the cache read price to $0.25 per million tokens—a 75% cut that can lower effective costs by up to 45% for agent-heavy workloads. Claude Fable 5.1 is available in Nigeria to users with a paid Claude plan or funded API account; free tier users cannot access it. Pro and standard Team subscribers need to purchase usage credits, while Max and Team Premium plans include Fable access within their limits. The model offers a 1-million-token context window, max output of 128,000 tokens, adaptive thinking (always on, default high effort), and supports text and image inputs. Features include long-running agent work, coding across large repositories, research-driven report generation, improved computer-use performance, and image/document understanding. Access options: select Claude Fable 5.1 in the Claude web, desktop, or mobile app; use API ID claude-fable-5-1; or via partner platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud, Microsoft Foundry, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor. Anthropic lists September 1, 2027 as the earliest possible retirement date. Will you allocate API credits or upgrade your Claude plan to take advantage of the lower cache costs for your long-running AI projects?
