Dangote Refinery names 10-member board ahead of planned N2.15 trillion IPO
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a 10‑member board as it moves closer to a stock market listing, with the company set to launch a N2.15 trillion IPO that will leave Aliko Dangote holding 84.34% of the refinery. The board blends industry veterans, financiers, lawyers and independent experts to guide the $20 billion complex through its next phase of public ownership and long‑term growth.
Aliko Dangote stays on as president and group chief executive, while former Shell executive David Bird serves as managing director and CEO. Fatima Aliko‑Dangote represents the wider Dangote Group’s energy businesses as a non‑executive director, and Olakunle Alake brings three decades of Dangote Group experience in finance and strategy. Other members include Devakumar Edwin (oil, gas and fertiliser), Adedapo Segun (NNPC CFO), Aliyu Suleiman (group chief strategy officer), Viswanathan Shankar (international banking via Gateway Partners), legal luminary Abubakar B. Mahmoud (SAN) and former Shell Nigeria chief Mutiu Sunmonu.
The refinery is valued between N77.7 trillion and N82.6 trillion ahead of the offer. With the board in place, Dangote Refinery aims to strengthen governance, attract both local and international investors, and operationalize its full capacity. Investors should watch for the prospectus release and subscription timetable as the IPO approaches.
