Dangote Refinery secures 60-65m litres daily petrol supply deal
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has secured an offtake agreement with 12 major oil marketers to distribute 60-65 million litres of petrol daily nationwide. The structured framework guarantees domestic supply while allowing surplus exports of 15-20 million litres. Nigeria's current consumption (50-60m litres) is now exceeded by refinery output, ending decades of fuel imports. This transforms Nigeria's energy security, conserving billions in foreign exchange annually and easing naira pressure. Analysts call it a structural shift in downstream petroleum value chain. The arrangement includes major marketers like TotalEnergies, MRS Oil, and NNPC Retail. NMDPRA endorsed the distribution framework. The refinery has exceeded expectations, producing 661,000 barrels daily (650k designed capacity). This marks Nigeria's most significant fuel supply transformation in decades.
