Dangote Refinery will become the world’s largest refinery by 2028, Aliko Dangote announced at the preliminary signing ceremony for the refinery’s initial public offering. The 700,000-barrel-per-day facility in Nigeria is already Africa’s largest and the world’s largest single‑train refinery, and Dangote said the planned expansion is fully sponsored, engineered and procured, leaving only construction to be completed.

The milestone matters because the refinery strengthens Nigeria’s energy security, reduces reliance on imported fuel, and supplies jet fuel to Europe and other West African markets. Dangote emphasized that the IPO will let any African own shares, with no segregation, supporting the group’s Vision 2030 of accelerating Africa’s industrialisation through energy security.

The IPO price is set at ₦525 per share, open to all investors. While the refinery has already helped ease supply disruptions from Middle East and Ukraine conflicts, the upcoming expansion will increase capacity further. Will you consider buying shares in the IPO, or expect the added output to lower domestic fuel prices and improve availability?
