Davido announces Oriadé release for 31 July, marks 15‑year milestone in music
Davido has announced that his sixth studio album, titled Oriadé, will be released on 31 July, marking a major milestone as he celebrates 15 years in the music industry. The revelation came through an exclusive Billboard interview and a teaser posted on his social media, where he wrote, “Oriadé—31st July. The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne. Pre‑order my new album now.” The album’s name blends the Yoruba words ori (head or destiny) and adé (crown), symbolising destiny, honour and fulfilment, and the announcement video shows him in a wine‑and‑black traditional outfit beside a throne and crown.
The announcement matters because Oriadé follows five previous studio projects—Omo Baba Olowo (2012), A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025)—and will be his shortest album at 13 tracks. Davido said the project returns to the sound that first made him a star, promising a deeply African‑rooted Afrobeats experience. The release arrives after a landmark year that saw his Coachella debut in April, a collaboration with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado on the FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack “No Place Like Home,” and the success of lead single “I Know Who I Be,” which follows the Omah Lay‑assisted hit “With You” from 2025.
