Defence Minister Musa Confirms Authentic Coup Plot Against Tinubu, Suspects in Court
Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (rtd.) said on Thursday that the Department of State Services and National Intelligence Agency are still investigating an alleged coup plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. He told Channels Television’s Politics Today that the suspects have been taken to court and are currently facing trial. Musa stated that investigators have confirmed the plot was genuine and that the accused intended to seize power, describing them as misguided individuals with no clear motive.
The revelation raises concerns about Nigeria’s political stability and the effectiveness of security agencies in detecting internal threats. While the legal process proceeds, the episode may prompt heightened security around government institutions and fuel public anxiety about potential unrest, especially as the country approaches the 2027 election cycle.
Musa urged Nigerians to rely on official updates and avoid spreading unverified claims. He emphasized that the matter is now with the judiciary, and any further details will come from the DSS and NIA investigations. Citizens should stay informed through credible news outlets, report any suspicious activity to authorities, and remain calm while the courts determine the suspects’ fate.
