Defence Minister Christopher Musa has clarified that Nigeria is not paying salaries to terrorists, saying 'We're not rewarding terrorists, we're not rewarding acts of criminality.' Musa made this statement during an interview on Arise Television on Friday while addressing concerns about alleged payments to captured terrorists. 'It would be stupid for us to do that,' Musa emphasized, acknowledging public sentiments that captured terrorists should be killed but explaining the legal process. 'We can't do that, because it's the same Nigeria that will come and say we are also killing innocent civilians.' The minister explained that captured terrorists are facing legal consequences, noting that some have been jailed recently. 'The attorney general is dealing with them, and they've been jailing them several times. I'm sure a few weeks ago, some of them were also jailed.' Musa also indicated that Nigeria is rehabilitating individuals, but clarified this does not involve paying salaries to those involved in terrorism.
