Former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu has stated that President Bola Tinubu can be defeated in the 2027 election if the opposition provides close monitoring of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Speaking on Channels Television's The Morning Brief on Thursday, Momodu, who recently defected from the PDP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said Tinubu's removal is "not impossible" if the opposition fields strong candidates with the political capacity to challenge the ruling APC. Momodu listed key ADC figures capable of challenging the APC, including former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, ex-FCT Minister Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi. He noted that the ADC already parades two of the top three candidates from the 2023 election—Atiku Abubakar (who came second) and Peter Obi (who came third)—arguing that this positions the opposition well to 'torpedo' the APC if they manage their affairs effectively. Momodu emphasized that globally, elections run smoothly when electoral processes are professionally and transparently managed, underscoring the critical role of INEC's integrity. The ADC chieftain maintained that the opposition has the momentum to challenge the APC on its own turf.
