Denmark's Social Democrats won 38 seats (their worst result since 1903) but remain the largest party after Tuesday's election. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen seeks to form a centre-left coalition with the Moderates, who hold 14 seats. Greenland's Inuit Ataqatigiit party, which advocates rapid independence, won two seats. The left-wing bloc (Social Democrats, 84 seats) and right-wing bloc (77 seats) are negotiating with the Moderates. Frederiksen insists she can lead a centre-left government, but Moderates leader Lars Loekke Rasmussen opposes leftist policies. Negotiations may focus on economic issues, pollution, and immigration. Danes face weeks of uncertainty as the king meets party leaders to determine who should form the next government.
