Dino Melaye accuses Tinubu of desperation over NRS chief’s 2027 campaign role
Dino Melaye, former Kogi West senator, said on Arise TV Prime Time Monday that President Bola Tinubu appointed NRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji as Deputy Director of Fundraising for Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election campaign, calling the move a conflict of interest and a sign of APC desperation. Melaye declared, “Zacch Adedeji cannot be the chairman of the NRS and, at the same time, be a fundraiser for the presidential campaign of a sitting President,” and said he would challenge the appointment in court.
He warned that holding both the NRS chair—a Senate‑confirmed post—and a campaign fundraising role violates public service rules and could allow state revenue resources to fund partisan politics. Melaye added that the appointment is “consequential” and confirmed by the Senate, insisting Adedeji must follow extant laws. He accused the President and APC of having an “I don’t care” attitude, calling it “very ridiculous and unacceptable,” and stressed that Nigeria is not a banana republic.
Melaye claimed the Presidency later suspended the appointment list after public outcry, pretending names were missing, lying and deceiving Nigerians.
