DJ Neptune warns AI music tools could soon force music producers to retire after being shocked by an AI-generated song that sounded 'out of this world.' The Nigerian disc jockey recounts how he was impressed by a track's production quality and told his team to sign the artist, only to discover it was entirely created by artificial intelligence.

'It shook me,' DJ Neptune said during a conversation with media personality N6, who had warned that AI is 'quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering industry.' The Grammy organizers recently updated rules to allow AI-assisted works, as long as they include 'meaningful human authorship.'

AI-powered tools are increasingly accessible for beat-making, sound engineering, vocal replication, and mastering, lowering barriers in a traditionally skill-intensive field. While this democratizes music creation, it raises concerns about artistic authenticity, originality, and intellectual ownership—core elements that have historically defined musical expression.

As AI becomes more sophisticated, music producers face existential questions about their value in an automated future. Should Nigerian music producers adapt to work with AI tools, focus on uniquely human creative elements that machines can't replicate, or explore career paths outside traditional production?
